What is Our Redeemer?
Our Redeemer is a mix of people – some lifetime Lutherans, others new to this (or any) faith; singles, young families, empty nesters and retirees; native Oregonians and transplants.
Varied though we are, we share a desire to learn and grow in our faith; and express that faith through our worship, our service to one another, and our service in our community and the world.
Officially we are part of the Lutheran Church Missouri-Synod.
Who is Welcome at Our Redeemer?
Do you have skin? Breathe? Live, walk, run, crawl, or roll? Then you are welcome!
Whether you are new to the community, new in your faith, or returning, we welcome you to be a part of our church family.
What Can I Expect at Our Redeemer?
You can expect a warm welcome no matter who you are! We are happy to meet and greet everyone who comes through our doors. We understand that gathering for worship can mean different things to different people; some might even be experiencing it for the first time. There is no dress code at Our Redeemer – just wear something! Our only hope is that when you worship with us, you will experience and know God's love for you, through us, and among us.
What about Small Children?
We are BLESSED to have a bunch, a heap, many, lots, you get the idea…. of kids at our Redeemer. In fact, nearly a third of those who regularly gather with us are under the age of 18!
You, your family, and your children are WELCOME at Our Redeemer. You can feel comfortable here if your children are picture perfect….or even if they are just regular kids!
What Does a Worship Gathering Look Like?
Our Redeemer Lutheran church is a 'come as you are' sort of place where all families are welcomed! All of our services are comfortable, kid-friendly times for families to come together and enjoy one another's presence as they gather to celebrate Jesus. The Family of Our Redeemer is like any family. We are a diverse family which values many ways to worship our Savior and God.
Our Redeemer worships in a variety of ways during the month:
Worship on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month is generally Non-traditional (Contemporary). What this means for us is that our worship, while still 'liturgical' in form, follows a different flow from traditional Lutheran Liturgy. These services make use of current worship music and utilize the wonderful talents of members of our church family playing guitar, piano, bass and other instruments.
Worship on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month generally follow a more traditional format that follows traditional elements of Lutheran Liturgy. These services make use of time honored and loved elements of the Divine Services, our Organ and a wide variety of hymns.
We also take time throughout the year to celebrate the various groups that make up our church family. Our School participates in worship often throughout the year in "Joyful Noise Sundays celebrating their special place in our family. Additionally, the first Sunday of every month is a "Kid's First" Sunday in which we celebrate our many young people and give them the opportunity to lead several aspects of our worship.
