Happy New Year!
Enrollment for School Year 2014-15 begins this month. From January 13-31 there will be priority enrollment for current school families and Our Redeemer congregation members. Enrollment opens to the general community on Feb 1.
Classes offered for the 2014-15 school year include:
- two morning classes for 3 year olds
- three classes for 4 year olds including morning and extended day options
- one multi-age preschool class meeting 5 afternoons per week
- one kindergarten class, ½ day or full day option
Information about the classes and tuition prices will be available on the display in the hallway downstairs on January 13. I’ll be happy to answer any questions you might have.
We will begin our January Bible stories with the early life of Jesus. Children are happy to hear how Jesus was a child, just like they are. They can imagine Jesus playing with friends, helping His parents and learning to read. Jesus, God’s Son, came to earth to be our Savior from sin. It is comforting to know that Jesus understands completely what it means to be human.
Along with daily study in reading, writing and math the kindergarten kids will enjoy a unit on dinosaurs in January and later this month a study of extreme weather. In Spanish we’ll review greetings, colors, numbers and food and begin learning family member names. Our artists are Van Gogh and Marc Franz and we will enjoy listening to opera.
During January the 4’s will study space and in particular the planets in our solar system. The 4’s will also be learning to recognize their last names. If a child is ready to learn how to write his/her last name, we will gladly help them. 4’s students continue their alphabet books each school day. They write a letter, both capital and lower case and learn the letter’s primary sound. In math we will be concentrating on shapes and colors. Music this month will concentrate on the genre of opera, and our artist is Wassily Kandinsky.
Extended Day kids enjoy practicing their new found reading skills in their daily letterbooks.
The 3’s will have fun with a unit on transportation. We will study many ways of getting from here to there on land, sea and air. Look for their evolving study on the wall outside the classroom. As the 3’s are ready to recognize their first names we will assist them in writing the first letter of their name. Counting from 1-20 is also a goal in January.
There will be an opportunity on January 16 and 17 for your family to join us for Pancake Breakfast at Our Redeemer. Pancakes will be served starting at 8:15am. Pastor Mark and Mr. Joel will be doing the flipping. Bring your family; let’s enjoy breakfast together.
As always your family is invited to worship with us at Our Redeemer. Worship times are at 8:00am and 10:45am every Sunday with Sunday School for all ages at 9:30am.
May the Lord Bless Your Family With His Joy and Peace,
Our Redeemer Church and School – Family, Friendship and the Love of Jesus!
