October finds us settling into our school routines. The children come each day ready and eager to learn. They have learned their friends’ names and the important truth found in God’s Word, Isaiah 43:1, where the Lord says, “Fear not, I have redeemed you, I have called you by name, you are Mine.” May these little ones always take comfort in knowing that God knows their names.
The kinders are eager to learn how to read and write. They faithfully practice and their skills improve daily. Math, Bible Time and of course, recess fill out our days. During Oct they will be learning about body systems and how wonderfully God has created us.
Extended Day 4’s…
Hooray, we are learning to read! The children are learning to read, write and listen with MacMillan/McGraw Hill Letterbooks.
During October the 4’s learning units include: the fall season, nocturnal animals, and of course some pumpkin fun. The artist for Oct is Piet Mondrian. They will be looking at some of Mondrian’s works and create artwork in his style. The children will also be listening to classical composers in Oct, learning to identify different instruments in an orchestra.
The 3’s will learn about the features, life cycle and habitat of owls, examine fall leaves, sorting by shape, size and color. Pumpkins are also in the plans. Practicing with school tools, especially scissors, offers challenge and a sense of accomplishment.
The children will learn about Bible heroes Noah, Joshua, Gideon and Daniel. They’ll find out how God empowered ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things for Him.
The children are blessed each week at Chapel. Pastor Mark and Mr. Joel have taught us some praise songs and tell us of God’s great love for each of us. Our chapel offering this fall quarter is going to Heifer International. We will purchase chickens at $20 per flock to send to families in need around the globe as a sustainable food source.
There are lots of fun events in October: Joyful Noise Sunday, school photos, field trips and costume parties. Please check your child’s calendar for specific dates. Information about school pictures will be coming home soon.
