OPEN HOUSE: January 27 from 4-7pm
We will begin our January Bible stories with the early life of Jesus. Children are happy to hear that Jesus was a child, just like they are. They can imagine Jesus playing with friends, helping His parents and learning to read. Jesus, God’s Son, came to earth to be our Savior from sin. It is comforting to know that Jesus understands completely what it means to be human.
Along with daily study in reading, writing and math the kindergarten kids will enjoy a unit on weather and extreme weather in January and later this month a study of the people and culture of China. Authors’ study this month includes Jan Brett and HA Rey. In Spanish greetings, colors, numbers and food will be reviewed. Next is learning family member names and school related words. January artist is Ansel Adams; we’ll try our hand at black and white photography. For music the children will enjoy listening to opera.
During January the 4’s will study dinosaurs, particularly different kinds of dinosaurs, dinosaur habitats and fossils. The 4’s will also be learning to recognize their last names. If a child is ready to learn how to write his/her last name, we will gladly help them. 4’s students continue their alphabet books each school day. They write letters, both capital and lower case and learn each letter’s primary sound. In math shape and color recognition will be reinforced. Music this month will concentrate on the genre of opera, and 4’s artist is Wassily Kandinsky. Extended Day kids enjoy practicing their new found reading skills in their daily letterbooks. The 3’s will have fun with a unit on transportation. They will study many ways of getting from here to there on land, sea and air. Look for their evolving study on the wall outside the classroom. As the 3’s are ready to recognize their first names we will assist them in writing the first letter of their name. Counting from 1-20 is also a goal in January.
There will be an opportunity on January 14 and 15 for your family to join us for Pancake Breakfast at Our Redeemer. Pancakes will be served starting at 8:00am. Bring your family; let’s enjoy breakfast together.
Every Sunday morning the Family at Our Redeemer gathers for a time of prayer, praise and learning at 8:00 and 10:45. Education hour for ages 2 through adult is at 9:30am. We would love for you to visit!
May Jesus Bless Your Family With His Joy and Peace,
