10.8.12 - Good Morning 4's Families
Dear 4’s Families,
This week we will learn about Dutch artist, Piet Mondrian (1872-1944). We’ll review prints of some of his later works “compositions in red, blue and yellow”. The children will have the opportunity to experiment with horizontal and vertical lines and primary colors and to create their own masterpieces in the “manner of Mondrian”. The children’s artwork will be on display in the hall outside the preschool room.
The children will learn about Christopher Columbus and his explorations this week. Children are natural explorers and we will be doing some exploring around our school building and property.
School Pictures are this Friday. We are blessed that Christy Andrea, Annika’s mom, shares her photography skills with our school. The kids can be as “dressed up” as you’d like. I promise no paint or messy projects that day.
There is one more week to contribute to the Community Transitional School’s sock and underwear drive. The Community Transitional School (CTS) is a private PK-8 grade school dedicated to the educational needs of children whose families are homeless or in transition throughout the Portland metro area. CTS provides a stable educational environment promoting personal and academic growth for at-risk children. The school is located at 6601 NE Killingsworth Street. There is a basket in the Commons if you wish to donate socks or underwear for elementary age kids.
