October finds us settling into our school routines. The children come each day ready and eager to learn. They have learned their friends’ names and important truths found in God’s Word. Isaiah 2:5, invites us “Come…let us walk in the Light of the Lord.” We pray that these children
will follow the Light that is Jesus for their whole lives.
The children will learn about Bible heroes Noah, Joshua and David. They’ll find out how God empowered ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things for Him.
The kinders are eager to learn how to read and write. They faithfully practice and their skills improve daily. Math, Bible Time and of course, recess fill out our days. During Oct they will be learning about body systems and how wonderfully God has created us.
Extended Day Kids…
Hooray, we are learning to read! The children are learning to read, write and listen with MacMillan/McGraw Hill Letterbooks.
During October the 4’s learning units include: the fall season, nocturnal animals, and of course some pumpkin fun. The artist for Oct is Piet Mondrian. They will be looking at some of Mondrian’s works and create artwork in his style. The children will also be listening to classical composers in October
learning to identify different instruments in an orchestra.
The 3’s will celebrate the color orange. They will use their senses examining fall leaves and sorting by shape, size and color. Pumpkins are also in the plans. Practicing with school tools, especially scissors, offer challenge and a sense of accomplishment.
The children are blessed each week at Chapel. Pastor Mark, Mr. Joel and the teachers take turns teaching the children praise songs and telling them of God’s great love. Our chapel offering for fall quarter is going to Heifer International. We will be purchasing bees ($30 per hive) to send to families in need in the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico. There is a “hive” in the hallway by the coat hooks. The staff has a goal of 20 bees. We’ll add one bee to our hive for every $30 we collect. Let’s see how many bees we can have in our hive by Christmas! You can check out the Heifer Bee Project and other great things Heifer is doing around the world at www.Heifer.org.
There are lots of fun events in October: Pancake Breakfasts, Annual Harvest Party and Chili Cook-Off, School Photos, and Class Costume Parties. Please check your child’s calendar for specific dates. Information about school pictures will be coming home soon.
