October finds us settling into our school routines. The children come each day ready and eager to learn. They have learned their friends’ names and important truths found in God’s Word. Isaiah 43:1 tells us, “Fear not, I have redeemed you, I have called you by name, you are mine!” Our prayer is that these children always know that they belong to Jesus.
The children will learn about Bible heroes Noah, Joshua and David. They’ll find out how God empowered ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things for Him.
The kinders are eager to learn how to read and write. They faithfully practice and their skills and improve daily. Math, Bible Time and of course, recess fill out our days. During Oct they will be learning about body systems and how wonderfully God has created us.
During October the 4’s learning units include: the fall season, forest friends, and of course some pumpkin fun. We will celebrate one of our favorite book characters, Curious George. The children will try their hand at a step-by-step drawing of George, enjoy some George books and eat bananas! The children will also be listening to classical composers in October learning to identify different instruments in an orchestra.
Extended Day Kids…
Hooray, 4 year olds love to read! The children are learning to read, write and listen with
MacMillan/McGraw Hill Letterbooks.
The 3’s will investigate the characteristics and habitats of owls and bats. They will use their senses examining fall leaves and sorting by shape, size and color. Pumpkins are also in the plans. Practicing with school tools, especially scissors, offers challenge and a sense of accomplishment.
The children are blessed each week at Chapel. The teachers take turns teaching the children praise songs and telling them of God’s great love.
There are lots of fun events in October: Pancake Breakfasts, Annual Fall Fair (a.k.a. Harvest Party) and Class Costume Parties. Please check your child’s calendar for specific dates. Information about school pictures will be coming home soon.
