This is a private school spanning Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade dedicated to serving the needs of homeless children in the city of Portland and East Multnomah County. CTS is funded mostly from donations and Our Redeemer supports CTS through a fall Sock and Underwear Drive, Christmas Giving Tree (providing gifts to the children – often the only chance to receive a gift of their choosing), and a Wish-List Drive by the preschool. Members also donate gently-used clothes throughout the school year.
Good Neighbor Center
Thankfully, there are places like Good Neighbor Center. Located in Tigard, on SW Greenburg Road, the center is a 36 bed transitional facility housing up to 9 needy families at a time. There is space so that each family has a private room where they can live for up to six weeks. Our Redeemer is privileged to support this community mission through regular donations from our food pantry.
The Pocket Cross Ministry
'A way to open the door to share Jesus' Love'
Always Carry Three
Although pocket crosses have been around for a long time, "Always Carry Three", was launched in 2005. Featuring a small metal cross [act.jpg] to give to others, the ministry is easily understood by everyone, from children to seniors, with gratifying results.
The Theme, "Always Carry Three", simply suggests,
- One cross for you
- Two crosses to give to others
Good Shepherd Auxiliary
The Good Shepherd Auxiliary is a part of the Bethesda Lutheran Communities which offers Christ-centered support and services to enhance the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our Redeemer's Women's Guild provides prayerful and financial support to the residents of the Good Shepherd homes through membership dues, collecting pennies 'by the mile', and other donations. Our Redeemer has a special resident for whom we pray and remember with cards and gifts throughout the year.
