Meet the Staff
The Rev. Arthur 'Butch' Olsen
Intentional Interim Pastor
Pastor Olsen joined Our Redeemer at the beginning of March 2017, and will be with us as we work through the process to identify the next Pastoral leader that God has chosen for our ministry.
Pastor Olsen is an ordained LCMS pastor, having served at Holy Cross in Portland until 2012. Since that time, he has completed training as an Intentional Interim Pastor and served various congregations in that capacity.
Laurie O'Brien, Ministry Coordinator
What I do: In practice, my job is one-third facilitator, one-third instigator, and one-third 'catch'. Susan and I work as a team to oversee daily activity at the church; support the staff, preschool and leadership; maintain member records; and prepare bulletins and newsletters.
What I love about Our Redeemer: The people. They are genuinely friendly, caring and fun to know. It is a blessing to worship together and work along-side people who live their faith and so generously support the ministries of this church.
Favorite Bible Verse(s): Psalm 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. -- I'm not a natural optimist, so a little reminder is always helpful.
Hobbies: Hatching plans, starting projects and procrastinating. 'Hobby' is a strong word; I love home design, photography and sewing.
Fun Fact: I can't think of anything that relates to me, but here's an interesting thought from the internet - The word 'listen' contains the same letters as 'silent'.
Darlene Thauland, School Director / Teacher
What I do: I play and talk with kids. I'm always thinking about how to make learning fun and engaging. I listen to moms and dads. I love to tell everyone that Jesus loves and cares for them. I am an early childhood teacher, and I get to be school director, too.
What I love about Our Redeemer: Our Redeemer is Family. Babies, little ones, teens, adults, elderly, all come together to share and care, to worship, play and grow together.
Favorite Bible Verse(s): My daily prayer, "Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants." Deuteronomy 32:2
Hobbies: reading, sewing, herb gardening, cooking and eating.
Fun Fact: I LOVE to blow bubbles!
Susan Stubblefield, Ministry Assistant
What I do: Provide part-time back-up support to our Ministry Coordinator and all of the staff at Our Redeemer.
What I love about Our Redeemer: The feeling of being amongst "family", worshipping our Father in heaven and caring for one another.
Favorite Bible Verse(s): John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful." and Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God."
Hobbies: Sailing and sailboat racing, interior decorating, shell collecting, exercising myself while exercising my two Labrador puppies, and time spent in Bible studies.
Fun Fact: I have been fortunate to have experienced many adventures in my life. For instance, I have downhill skied many wonderful mountains in the West and have made two trans-Pacific crossings in a small sailboat.
